About Butterfly Adventures
Love is Like a Butterfly...
Butterfly Guy Eddie Tsyrlin is doing his best to repopulate the planet with
beautiful, homebred butterflies. Stirring and fluttering in his quiet suburban
home, the gorgeous winged creatures are destined for freedom and flight,
released to celebrate love and life.
Butterfly Adventures began with an entomologist's dream and his desire to share
the wonders of the insect world with others. Eddie explains, "butterflies seem
to be a perfect way of doing that as they are probably the only insect that
people like to touch." As well as supplying the unique Chrysalis Kit for sale,
the company organises butterfly releases for weddings and functions and offers
educational presentations to schools.
The Chrysalis Kit in its current form is unique to Australia and possibly the
world. The kit includes a gold dotted, emerald chrysalis, with instructions on
how to nurture it through the transition into a gorgeous monarch butterfly -
a memorable and unusual gift!
Butterfly releases are a beautiful way to commemorate a special event and are
particularly romantic at weddings. The monarch butterflies released by Butterfly
Adventures are native to Australia. After gliding, circling and perching as they
orient themselves to their new surroundings, they flutter freely away to join
the natural world, where they may live for another six weeks or longer (the 2
day life span is a butterfly myth). Butterfly releases tap into a long tradition
maintained by entomologists from far flung lands and times. Winston Churchill
was a butterfly lover and often entertained his guests with a butterfly release
and Vladimir Nabokov once said that "Literature and butterflies are the two
sweetest passions known to man."
Educational presentations are a favourite with Eddie, who illustrates his points
by donning various giant-size costumes to illustrate the butterfly body parts,
life cycle and highlight the distinctions between butterflies and moths. As well
as a range of butterfly presentations to suit all ages, Butterfly Adventures
makes the hop into lessons on waterbugs, which can be brought to the classroom,
complete with streams and ponds.
